Inspired by recent research into Abstract Expressionism, I’m exploring painting at times when I’m feeling certain emotions. I chose paint as a medium as it is not a material I am used to so using it it this way was certain to add something to the outcome. (I was not likely to be influenced by previous ways of working)

We have moved on from the restrictive apparatus that connected us to others. They have been replaced by multiple devices that keep us connected and in constant demand

Forever Portrait

promotion4

Before we had the technology that we enjoy today, art was used as a way to shape the perceived identity of those who ruled. In the time before photography, camera phones and celebrity imagery, leaders commissioned paintings and sculptures of themselves as a way to communicate a powerful image of themselves. It was a false representation but it was necessary to encourage and maintain the public’s confidence in them.

In today’s world we create an infinite self-portrait when we update our online status, forever commenting upon our evolving identities.

Happy New Year!

Here’s my 2014 in review…….

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 26,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 10 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Social Interaction

collage2

A crossover between real life and social media interactions, reality becomes distorted, who sees what? Others, maybe even strangers begin to have an input in our lives! Do we control it or have we lost control?

Seriously?

Life is so unfair…. with age comes wisdom, sometimes!
